The Trees:

Coastal and California Redwoods are found in from California to Oregon in the USA with specimens in other areas of the world such as New Zealand. They are very fast growing, long lived, evergreen trees- some of the tallest on earth.

 

 


Redwood Burl


The Wood:


Redwood is red in color and resistant to rot, making if valuable for use in outdoor furniture, decking and shingles. It is lightweight and easily dinged, with distinct growth rings. The burl (shown here) is particularly striking with distinct eye like patterns. The burl is prized for use in furniture, wood turning and decorative arts.
