  Myrtle Tree

Umbellularia Californica
Laurus nobilis
Hardwood

The Trees:

Myrtle covers a variety of trees and is also commonly known as Bay Laurel or Pepperwood.

True myrtle trees (Laurus nobilis) are from the Mediterranean and are semi evergreen trees whose leaves have been traditionally used for medicine and food for centuries.

California Bay Laurel (Umbellularia Californica) also known as Oregon Myrtle is an evergreen native American tree found along the west coast.

Myrtle Wood

The Wood:

Oregon Myrtle is a creamy white to gold in hue with a darker brown grain. Often highly figured and decorative, its uneven grain can make it difficult to work with.
