The Trees:

Maple is a widely grown tree with varieties found through out the USA, Asia and Europe. It is a deciduous tree, often with brilliant color variations in the fall.

Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) is a maple tree native to Europe and Southwestern Asia, and is sometimes refereed to as the Plane trees.

 


Maple Wood


The Wood:

Maples are generally light colored woods, creamy white to yellow, with darker brown grain. It is a versatile wood, available for many uses from construction to furniture making and other applications. More figured maples including birdseye maple (lower image) are often veneered for decorative uses including guitars and musical instruments. Maple burl is widely used for decorative accents, furniture and turning.
