The Trees:

Jatoba, sometimes called Brazilian cherry (no relation to cherry) is found throughout Central and South America, Mexico and the West Indies. It is similar in growth and properties to rosewoods.

The Wood:

Jatoba is an extremely dense and shock resistant wood, popular as flooring, furniture, tool handles and other equipment. It is red or orange to rich brown in color, harder than mahogany and has rot resistant properties.
