  Ash Tree

Fraxinus Americana
Hardwood

The Trees:

Different varieties of ash trees can be found all over the world. Most commonly used in the USA is white ash (Fraxinus Americana).

Ash trees are mid-size trees and large shrubs, deciduous, adaptive and widespread. Ash trees are identified by their compound leaves and have seeds similar to the winged seeds of maples.

Ash Wood

The Wood:

Ash wood is usually white to cream in color with a dense, uniform grain. The widespread availability and elastic strength make ash an ideal wood for use in furniture and crafts. It is best known for its use in baseball bats and bows which take advantage of its strength and flexibility. It is also prized for acoustic guitars because of its bright tone.
