Artist Biography

Robert Spangler has been a full time furniture maker since 1973. After working in the design field as a Landscape Architect he became fascinated with woodworking and apprenticed with a third generation cabinetmaker.

Since then his work has been included in National shows, public art projects, various publications, competitions and private collections.

Robert's work reflects American furniture styles and a continuing interest in European and Asian furniture. His style combines these elements with a strong design background and his own unique, life experiences.

Over the years he has come to believe that building and designing are inseparable - both processes inspire, one feeding the other. He now lives and works at his home studio on Bainbridge Island close to Seattle.
